Lecture Title: Atopic dermatitis: the long and challenging path to precision medicine
Professor Thomas Bieber trained in the dermatology, allergy and dermatopathology departments of Strasbourg (1982-1985) and then Munich. He also trained in drug regulatory affairs, earning a Master’s degree, and got special expertise in preclinical and clinical drug development. Since 1997, Professor Bieber has been the chair and director of the department of dermatology and allergy at the University of Bonn in Germany.
From 2002-2006, he was vice-dean and then dean of the medical faculty. In addition to clinical dermatology and allergy, his scientific focus is in the ontogeny and immunobiology of dendritic cells and their role in atopic dermatitis (AD) and in tolerance mechanisms.
