Dr. Schmuth’s research interest has focused on the morphology and molecular biology of epidermal differentiation and genodermatoses. His research team has extensively studied skin barrier function in disorders of cornification. His laboratory aims to better understand the interplay between epidermal barrier function, keratinocyte differentiation and inflammation, with particular emphasis on genetic diseases and novel therapeutic approaches.
