Dr. Ana Rebane is a Professor of Molecular Medicine at the Institute of Biomedicine and Translational Medicine, University of Tartu, Estonia. She earned her PhD from the University of Tartu and completed her postdoctoral research at Yale University, specializing in basic RNA biology.
Upon returning to the University of Tartu and during her tenure period as a visiting scientist at the Swiss Institute of Allergy and Asthma Research, she transitioned to immunology and allergy research while maintaining a primary focus on RNA. Her current research aims to uncover the molecular mechanisms underlying chronic inflammatory diseases, such as atopic dermatitis and psoriasis, with a particular emphasis on the roles of microRNAs and RNA modifications in immune and epithelial cell responses. Additionally, her group is developing more efficient and safer delivery methods for potentially therapeutic microRNAs and mRNAs into immune cells and inflamed epithelium using cell-penetrating peptides.
