Dr. Kelsey R. van Straalen (MD, PhD) is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Dermatology at Erasmus University Medical Center (Rotterdam, The Netherlands), where she leads the Laboratory for Experimental Immunodermatology. 

She obtained her PhD with distinction from Erasmus University, in recognition of her contributions to hidradenitis suppurativa (HS). Her group’s research focuses on elucidating the immunological mechanisms underlying inflammatory skin diseases, with a particular emphasis on HS, its clinical heterogeneity, and its association with systemic inflammatory comorbidities.

Dr. van Straalen has authored over 60 peer-reviewed publications and has contributed to the development of national and international HS treatment guidelines. She is a member of the ESDR and EADV, and serves on the scientific committee of the Skin Inflammation & Psoriasis International Network (SPIN).
