Lars French

Lars E. French, MD, is an internationally recognized dermatologist and clinician-scientist specializing in inflammatory skin diseases, tumor immunology, and precision dermatology. His work combines translational research with clinical investigation to improve the understanding and treatment of complex dermatologic disorders.

He is currently Professor of Precision and Translational Dermatology in the Dr. Phillip Frost Department of Dermatology and Cutaneous Surgery at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and Founder & Chief Medical Advisor of Alys Pharmaceuticals. Prior to joining the University of Miami, he served as Professor and Chair of Dermatology at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (2018–2025) and previously at University Hospital Zurich.
In addition to his academic career, Dr. French has extensive experience in biotechnology and digital health entrepreneurship. He has founded or advised several companies focused on translational innovation, telemedicine, life sciences, and healthcare technologies, including Alys Pharmaceuticals, Derma2go, Avelios Medical, Adipogen Life Sciences, EpiTech SA, Apotech Corporation/Alexis Corp, and Apoxis SA.

Dr. French has authored more than 550 scientific publications (h-index 72; >22,000 citations) and is ranked among the top 2% of scientists worldwide based on citation impact.
He has led over 300 clinical trials in inflammatory skin diseases and skin cancer and has held major international leadership roles, including President of the International League of Dermatological Societies (2019–2023).
