Dr. Masakazu Tamai is a Specially Appointed Researcher in Cutaneous Immunology and Microbiology at The University of Osaka. His research focuses on skin immunology and host–microbiome interactions, with particular emphasis on the gut–skin axis and its role in shaping cutaneous immune responses in inflammatory skin diseases.
Dr. Tamai received his M.D. from The University of Osaka in 2018. Following his clinical training in dermatology, he entered the doctoral program at The University of Osaka Graduate School of Medicine in 2022 and completed his doctoral coursework in 2026.
Dr. Tamai was awarded the JSID Kisaragi Award in 2026. He is a member of the Japanese Society for Investigative Dermatology, the Japanese Society for Immunology, and the Japanese Dermatological Association.
